God is the ulitmate giver. He gave His life for us on the cross so that we can have eternal life. The bible says that everything we have comes from God. So when we give, we are giving God back what belongs to Him. Giving is a biblical practice that God has asked us to pracitpate in. Giving is being obeidance to God.
The word "tithe" means tenth or 10%. Tithing is giving the first ten percent of our income back to God. In doing so we are being obediant to God, activily putting Him first and trusting Him to provide for all of our needs.
An offering is anything given beyond the 10%.
